Cards for Men–Christmas Event: Day 8
Hi everyone !
Welcome to my entry for the Cards for Men ‘Days of Christmas’ Event which is running from the 1st until the 14th December. If you haven’t discovered this little trove of loveliness, then the link is HERE
Each day a different team member will host the event and demonstrate a quick Christmas card/project suitable for those of us (like me) who are still doing Christmas cards. There will be a different sponsor each day and a prize to be won.
Pop over to the main blog each day to find out who is the host for the day and then give them a visit, leave a comment and a prize winner will be drawn the following day. Hope to see you all there! Just click HERE to visit the Site.
The prize for today is 3 downloads from KennyK downloads.
This is an unusual, but welcome diversion for me. I am normally, a scrapbooker, and tend to give anything digital a very wide berth! However, Donna Walker who is the organiser of the Cards for Men blog, asked me to join in.
I was extremely lucky to be asked to use a KennyK download. I had the choice of using any digital image that I wanted, and once I saw the Scrooge image, I just knew that I had to have it !
My husband, when asked what he wants for Christmas, always says “nothing”, and so when I saw this stunning digital image of Scrooge, I knew exactly what I wanted to do. I originally decided to make the following card, and add a pack of crayons inside …….. ha ha ha !
However, I felt a right ‘nasty pasty’ so I made him another one …… I used the Scrooge digital image to make a sheet of background paper, and then printed off a full sized copy as the focal point. I used my Stampin Up! marker pens to colour in Scrooge himself – and apologies for the colouring, believe me, its been a long, long time since I’ve coloured-in any images ! I then used some My Minds Eye papers to add some additional colour. The sentiment is my own, and was printed off and attached using dimensionals.
KennyK Downloads
I'm sure you're all familiar with the wonderful work of Kenny K's Shop but what about the man (and woman) behind those wonderful creations. Take a look here to see their journey, http://www.kennykdownloads.com/about-kenny-and-elena.php

Talking of Christmas, here is a list of 10 of my most favourite things – seriously, I’d be happy with anything off of this list, but I will love you forever if you send me David Beckham !

If Carlsberg were glitter card ….
….. then it would have to be the NEW Stampin Up! Silver glitter card !
Although described as silver glitter card, it is more of an Ice White colour, and therefore UTTERLY FANTASTIC, for adding a drop of Stampin Up! re-inker, and changing it into ANY COLOUR GLITTER CARDSTOCK THAT YOU WANT !
Seriously …. just add ONE teeny tiny drop of SU! re-inker, smooch it over the glitter silver cardstock with a dauber– and voila – any colour you want ! As you can see from my two samples below (sorry for poor quality of the photograph – but the sparkle is that bright, that it distorts the photo) … I used melon mambo re-inker and tempting turqoise. I didn’t want the colour ‘in your face’, so I smooched it into a thin coating. However, you can smooch it in with an aqua pen filled with rubbing alcohol, and the colour will become more vibrant !
AND …. the piece de resistance … the glitter does not flake off the cardstock – what more could you want ?!!!!
The Silver Glitter cardstock is £4.50 for TWO 12x12 sheets, and the re-inkers are only £2.75 each and they last for ….. well forever !! Bargain or what ?!!!!
ALSO DON’T FORGET – the new Stampin Up! trimmer is now available – ONLY £25.95 and the measurements are in cm’s AND inches – so win-win !!!! (see yesterday’s post for full details on the NEW trimmer) … you soooooo need one !!
To place an order, or if you have any questions, then please contact me on carole.bryson@gmail.com or 07747 465186

It’s Here !!!!!!!!!!!
The New Stampin' Trimmer
Introducing the new and improved Stampin' Trimmer! Although paper trimmers are a common crafting tool, this trimmer was designed exclusively by paper crafters for paper crafters-and because it was made by Stampin' Up!, you know it's a cut above the rest!
*An extra-wide 6-1/4" cutting base and an extended 14-1/2" ruler
*The extra-wide cutting base provides a large work area and is marked in 1/4" (4 mm) increments, allowing for small measurements.
*The right-side grid helps you measure and cut very thin strips.
*The extended cutting arm has a stabilizing leg to provide a sturdy and steady cutting surface for longer cuts.
*When fully extended, the extended cutting arm sits flush with the trimmer base, providing more accurate and consistent measurements across the entire surface.
*The cutting base and track include a full ruler, incorporating measurements down to 1/16" and grid lines that mark each quarter inch.
*All rulers and measurements on the base are printed under a plastic cover so your measurements won't wear off.
*The base has nonskid feet, which keeps the Stampin' Trimmer securely in place on your work area.
*A full 12" cutting and scoring track
*The extra-long cutting track has space at the top and bottom so you don't have to take the cutting and scoring blades out when you're not using them.
*The track gives you enough space to cut or score a full 12" (30.5 cm) without having to remove or switch out handles.
*The cutting track locks in place for secure storage or transport.
*The track includes an insertion point for cutting and scoring blade handles so you can easily insert handles into the cutting track.
*Specially designed handles and cutting track to ensure straight cuts
*The hook on the scoring and cutting blade handles keeps the handles stable so the cuts are as straight as possible.
*Handles come in two colors: dark for cutting, light for scoring.
*The precision tip on the cutting blade allows you to pinpoint precisely where you're cutting.
*The point on the side of each handle shows you where the blade will cut, making it easy to see exactly where your cuts and scores will begin.
*Storage compartment under base
*The storage compartment holds scoring and cutting tools such as a Bone Folder, Simply Scored Stylus, extra scoring and cutting blades, and even business cards.
*Separate compartments within the storage compartment keep your tools organized, and the clear cover makes it easy to see what you've stored.
Order in time for Christmas !
Price: £25.95 plus £2.90 postage

Quick and Easy … just how I like it !
How quick and easy were these cards to make ? Well seeing as you weren’t with me when I made them, I’ll tell you – 20 cards in one evening !
This set was made using:-
Festival of Prints papers from the Autumn/Winter Catalogue (£6.25 for a book of 48 sheets), Greetings of the Season stamp set (£13.95 mounted, £10.95 unmounted), and Apothecary Accents Framelits (£20.95) … this framelit set has become an absolute favourite with me, and it is fabulous for both scrapbooking and card making !
This second set has (again) been made using the fabulous Apothecary framelits, the Greetings of the Season stamp set, but I’ve added some grosgrain ribbon, and I have embossed the largest frame using the Vintage Wallpaper embossing folder (£7.50). I have used Real Red and Island Indigo NEW ink pads.
These cards were so easy to make, and so thankfully quick to make up !
If you would like to place an order, then please contact me on carole.bryson@gmail.com or text me on 07747 465186.
Why not Spread the Cost whilst earning FREE stash ?
My next Stampers Group (Virtual Hostess Club) is due to begin in December. Just in time to coincide with Sale-a-Bration which starts in January.
The last round is now coming to an end and it's proved extremely popular with particpants, most of whom have already signed up again.
The exciting thing about a Virtual Hostess Club is that every member gets to receive at least £25 of hostess benefits at some point during the club period.
Places are limited, so please read the following carefully and let me know as soon as possible if you’d like to reserve a slot.
How it works
Each member agrees to spend a minimum of £15 on Stampin’ Up!® products per month for the 10-month duration of the club OR £25 per month for 6 months for the Stampers 6 Group. Having 10 members (or 6 members for the Stampers 6 group) means that the club’s monthly orders qualify for hostess benefits. On joining the club, you will be allocated at random a month to be hostess. By the end of the club, everyone will have taken a turn at getting the freebies!
There are other exciting benefits, too. Here’s the full list:
- Guaranteed hostess benefits for your allocated month – these can be increased if you choose to hold a party during your host month
- FREE catalogues! Specifically, an Autumn/Winter Catalogue; Annual Catalogue (released in October) and Spring/Summer catalogue (released February). Obviously, you will get these early - another privilege of being part of the club.
- £5 discount to classes charged at £25 or over.
- FREE shipping (from SU to me – if you need your goods to be posted to your house, this will be charged at cost)
All this for the price of a couple of bottles of wine a month - and lasts longer, too!
Joining the club is great way to build up your stamping supplies while spreading the cost. One month you could purchase a large punch, a stamp set another month, or simply stock up on cardstock or adhesives.
And, by holding an actual party during your hostess month you’ll know your total will be at least £150 before anyone even walks through the door, giving you even more hostess benefits.
If you’d like to join the club, please let me know as soon as possible. I will keep the number of slots available updated on my blog so you can check progress. Don't live nearby? Don't worry, you can still join - just pay the actual cost of me posting your products to your UK address.
Frequently asked questions
What will it cost me?
You will buy £15 minimum of products each month. There is no obligation to spend more than this, ever. Your products will be delivered to me (so that the order will qualify for hostess benefits) and I will post them out to you. Postage for this will be charged at cost. If you live nearby, of course, you can collect your purchases from my house or from one of my events.
I enjoy holding or attending real workshops, so why should I join a Virtual Club?
Don’t worry – you can still do both! If you live within reasonable driving distance for me, why not book a workshop in your host month? The benefit of being a club member is that your workshop is guaranteed to reach hostess benefit level (ie £150) before the first guest even walks through the door! Any sales achieved at your workshop can be added to the club order to give you even more hostess benefits, as well as a fun evening with friends.
Who is the club for?
The club is for crafters who want to spread their costs... it’s for stampers who want hostess benefits but may not be able to host a party for various reasons... it’s for people who want to boost their workshop totals and get more hostess benefits... it’s for those who have a big wish list... it’s for people who love Stampin’ Up!® products so much that they need a regular fix! And, of course, the club is for anyone in the UK (unfortunately, I’m unable to ship products outside of the UK).
Can I choose my host month?
The months will be allocated at random but if you would prefer a different month and can arrange a swap with another member, that is fine.
What to do next...
Send me an email and I’ll be in touch! The club will start when there are 10 people willing to commit, preferably in September to coincide with the new Autumn/Winter catalogue (a new-style, bigger "mini"). Be quick – if I get more than 10 people, latecomers will have to go on a waiting list for a second club and this could take some time to fill.
To reserve your place in one of the groups, please contact me on carole.bryson@gmail.com or text/call me on 07747 465186

Giving ….. (includes tutorial)
My FIRST gift to you - Christmas Gift – No 1
Are you giving cash or a gift card this Christmas ? If so, then why not give it “Stampin Up” style ? Below is a holder that I made, that you can make for giving either cash or a gift card. I’m sure all the recipients will be delighted with it !
Instructions :-
Cut your crumb cake cardstock into a 3 1/2” x 8 1/4” strip.
Lay the long side on your score board, and score on the left hand side at 2 1/2”, flip your cardstock around, and score on the left hand side again at 2 3/4”.
You now need 3 pieces of patterned paper for matting.
For the 2 1/2” bottom piece, you need a piece of patterned paper measuring 3 1/4” x 2 1/4”. For the top piece (with the reindeer) you need a piece of patterned paper measuring 3 1/4” x 2 1/2”. For the back of the wallet you need a piece of patterned paper measuring 3 1/4” x 2 3/4”.
I then inked all the mats with a sponge dauber and chocolate chip inkpad.
Mat the patterned paper onto the bottom layer of the holder, and the top layer. The bottom layer will fold up to become the section that holds the money or card. You therefore need to punch a semi circle out of the top flap with a 1” circle punch to make it easier for the recipient to get out the card or money. You can now put strong red double sided tape down the left hand side and right hand side of this section, and adhere to the middle section. The top flap then folds over.
For the back, you will need to adhere 12” strip of ribbon (to tie around the front), and then adhere the patterned paper OVER the ribbon.
Flip back over to the front. Using the decorative label punch and crumb cake c/s punch out the shape. Ink the edges and stamp the sentiment using.Teeny Tiny Sentiments. Add to the wallet using dimensionals, but make sure the ribbon can move underneath.
Reindeer
Die cut a snowflake using the new Stampin Up! bigz snowflake and chocolate chip cardstock. You will only need the larger snowflake. Cut out two 'antlers’ from the snowflake. Now punch out the body of the reindeer using the owl punch. (you might need to trim off the owls feet). Adhere the antlers to the back of the body. Punch out a 1/2” circle using real red cardstock, and add to the reindeer. I then used two googly eyes from the autumn/winter catalogue, which I added to the top of rudolphs nose, and then using a white journalling pen, added some extra detail.
Voila !
DON’T FORGET – The Vintage Mini-Album raffle and Memories Mini album raffle – You have the chance to win one of the mini-albums that I have made, just by purchasing a raffle ticket – you can view the albums HERE I am raising funds for both Breast Cancer Awareness and St Johns Hospice.
