MDS Monday and exciting News !

Ok, so its ages since I’ve had a play with My Digital Studio – however, I’m now on school holidays (yay), and as I don’t store my stash at home, I was dying for a crafty hour or two. So, I opened up My Digital Studio, and these are some of the things that I’ve been playing with.

If you haven’t tried MDS (My Digital Studio), and you are not a digital scrapper, then honestly, you should try this programme.  I swear, even my mum could use it, its that easy.  Try the FREE version HERE for 30 days, and if you like it, then buy the full version HERE !  You can only buy the product from my shop, as you download the software immediately.  (Make sure my name is in the top right hand corner of your screen).

You get heaps in the free package, so you can start playing immediately, and obviously, you get more digital products in the full version.  Then you can buy as many, or as few ‘extras’ as you want.  There are NEW downloads every Tuesday – so the downloads are continually giving you fresh ideas !

I found a sketch that I liked on Pinterest, and then started ‘dabbling’.  As you can see, I used the same sketch twice, but I used different photographs, designer papers and embellishments.  What do you think ?

Exciting News

It’s all over …. but …

…. the dancing.  

Sadly, Sale-a-bration is over for another year     However, the Spring/Summer catalogue is still alive and kicking - YAY !

Here’s a card I made using supplies from the Spring/Summer catalogue and using the ‘fencing’ technique that I CASEd from the wonderfully talented US Demonstrator, Patty Bennett. 

Patty stamped the fence using the ‘hardwood’ background stamp and then use dthe ‘triangle’ punch from the Geometric bundle for punching out the fencing shape. 

I added the grass using the new ‘fringe’ scissors, the flowers using the petite petals punch and itty bitty punches, the leaf from the bird punch, and then I completed the card with a small butterfly and rhinestones.  Such a quick and easy card to make !

Feel Involved

As you know, I am running a 2 Day EGGstravaganza on the weekend of the 12th and 13th April.   I know there are some people who would like to attend, but are away on holiday, or have family visiting.  However, to help you feel involved, I am offering a few things :-

Saturday Spotlight

I was thinking about what Stampin Up! products that I use the most.  Having given this some considerable thought, I decided that there were just far too many to mention in one go So, I concluded, that we needed a Saturday Spotlight !

This weeks ‘Saturday Spotlight’ is all about Framelits.

My biggest bug bare with using framelits, is that aside from the matching sets and framelits, I never know what is going to fit inside a framelit and what isn’t.  I don’t have the time to measure every single framelit in order to give you a definitive list, but Dawn Olchefske has !  Her amazing list of framelit sizes is HERE ! Wow I wish I had found this handy little link sooner .. now I will know exactly what stamp set or sentiment set will fit with which framelit !  YAY !

I use framelits for all genres of crafting.  I use them as journalling tags and photo mats in my scrapbooking and mini albums, as seen here

and I use them for both picture and sentiment mats when making cards. 

Even on their own, framelits make amazing gift tags and bookmarks.

Storage

Up to now, I have kept my framelits in their wallets inside a drawer.  However, having seen this amazing idea by Sandi MacIver, I’ve just ordered lots of our DVD clear cases, and intend to sort mine out over the next few weeks. Not only can you get two sets of framelits to one case, but you can see them and access them more easily.

Another idea I’ve seen for storing framelits, is to put them into plastic wallets inside a D-ring album.

Or even, store them in a box on magnetic sheets.

All of them are great ideas, but I like the idea of protecting them inside the DVD cover.

YAY !!!  Its Friday !  I hope you have lots of crafting activities lined up for this weekend ?  I’m planning on getting some scrapbooking time, so I need to get up early tomorrow and sort out all the housework and shopping.

In the meantime, I have these two cards to show you.  Can you believe that both of these cards have been created using the same stamp set !  The Happy Watercolor stamp set fills me with such joy .. seriously, I love this set.  It is very definitely one of my most favourite stamp sets from the Spring/Summer catalogue.

 

The card on the right has been created using the new Hardwood background stamp (Wood 133032 £15.95 or Unmounted 133035 £12.95).  The flower image was stamped on Very Vanilla cardstock, and then over-stamped using the watercolour grunge stamp in Crushed Curry ink and Crisp Cantaloupe.  The flower image was then ‘fussy’ cut out, and adhered to the Marina Mist (blue) background, which was then layered onto a Crumb Cake card base.

The card on the left was stamped five times.  Again, I over-stamped using the watercolour grunge stamp, but in Bermuda Bay this time.  I then cut out two of the poppy images, and adhered them over two of the remaining poppy’s using dimensionals.  I used Very Vanilla cardstock, Bermuda Bay cardstock and again, I used a Crumb Cake base.
